About Florida Eye Health

Florida Eye Health is a full-service eye care center offering top quality, comprehensive services for patients throughout Southwest Florida and beyond. The practice was established in Fort Myers in 1994 by Cataract and LASIK Specialist Jonathan M. Frantz, MD, FACS, and now has locations in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Punta Gorda, Lehigh Acres, and Naples.

The practices’ five locations are staffed with a carefully assembled team of eyecare professionals, all of whom are highly esteemed in the medical community. As a result of the specialized training each of our doctors has achieved, Florida Eye Health is able to meet a full range of your eye care needs – vision, medical, surgical and cosmetic – from the most basic to the most complex.

Our practice is geared toward adults with a special emphasis on our senior population. From eye exams, glasses and contacts, to the latest technology in cataract removal, 100% blade-free iLASIK, glaucoma treatment and management of eye diseases, eyelid surgery, and hearing services, our experienced team of ophthalmologists and optometrists combine care and compassion to provide you with quality, patient-focused care.

Dr. Jonathan Frantz invites our SeniorAve.com friends to take advantage of our Welcome Bucks voucher on this website for a Free Cataract Evaluation for new patients 55 and older.

Cataracts are one of the most curable causes of vision loss, yet thousands of area residents’ continue to live with diminished vision simply because they don’t get an eye exam that can detect the presence of a cataract.

The doctors at Florida Eye Health, under the medical direction of Dr. Frantz, are offering free cataract evaluations at all five of our locations for NEW patients who are 55 and older to help debunk the myths about cataracts and remind people they don’t have to live with vision loss from cataracts.

According to Dr. Frantz, “A cataract is the clouding of the eye’s normally clear lens, blocking the passage of light needed for vision. They form slowly and cause no pain. Some stay small and hardly affect vision, but if the cataract does grow and begins to affect your vision, it can usually be removed with surgery.”

New techniques developed over the past decade have made cataract surgery one of the safest and most successful procedures available in terms of restoring quality of life to patients. The cloudy natural lens is replaced with an artificial lens to give the eye proper focusing power. In most cases, the improvement in the patient’s vision is profound.

So how do you know if you have a cataract? Dr. Frantz explains, “Some people notice a gradual painless blurring of vision, double vision in one eye or fading or yellowing of colors. When older patients notice sensitivity to glare and/or brightlight or have trouble driving at night, it is often caused by cataracts.” “The best time to have a cataract removed is when it starts to interfere with the things you like to do,” said Frantz.
